Pattaya —

A collision between a sedan and a motorcycle sidecar on Sukhumvit Road early on Thursday morning, September 14th, left three people injured, one of them seriously. The driver of the sedan fled the scene.

The incident occurred at about 1:30 AM on Sukhumvit-Pattaya 85 Road, inbound to Sattahip, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi.

Rescue personnel and a medical team from Bangkok Pattaya Hospital were dispatched to the scene and found that a motorcycle sidecar had sustained significant damage.

Three people were injured, including an unidentified Burmese woman who had suffered serious head injuries and two other men, a Thai national named Mr. Opas Thupnamkham, 40, and another Burmese national Mr. Zaw Moe, 47. The latter two were slightly injured.

First aid was administered to all three before they were sent to a local hospital.

Upon interviewing the injured person, Mr. Opas, he said that he and his peers were heading back to their accommodation during heavy rain. Then, a black sedan, of an unknown model, abruptly collided with them from behind. The impact caused their sidecar to overturn, throwing all three of them in different directions. The other party involved did not stop or even slow down, leaving them injured and lying in the middle of the road.

Police are investigating the incident and are attempting to identify the involved vehicle via a registration plate that fell off during the collision.

The driver of the suspect vehicle is also being urged to come forward and surrender to cooperate with the investigation.
