Pattaya Police and business owners hand out 500 free meals to the needy

Pattaya-

The Pattaya City Police and local business owners helped the needy in front of Soi 9 this afternoon (January 26th).

Five hundred free meals and water were handed out to the needy in Pattaya at midday.

Many people in Pattaya are unemployed after many businesses have been closed. This is due to a combination of force closure orders due to Covid-19 measures as well as business owners who have either gone out of business or decided to wait until tourists return to open their venues.  Pattaya and Chonburi have currently been designated a “highly-controlled” zone and as a result, many venues are closed and travel restrictions are in place. This includes the thousands of entertainment venues in the city which is known around the world for its famous nightlife which has now gone silent.

Business owners have donated food and drink to the Pattaya City Police to manage the event which was packed into 500 sets of meals.

The Pattaya City Police assisted in handing out free meals to the needy with hygienic measurements such as temperature checks and hand sanitizer. The Police have held multiple food and charity events since the second round of Covid-19 shut business in the city, nearly all led by the new Pattaya Police Chief Piset Poonsarp.

The Chonburi Department of Public Health has stated to the public that they are waiting for announcements from the Thai Government (Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration) this Friday, January 29th, before deciding if they will loosen any restrictions around Covid-19 such as business closures.
