Rayong â
The Rayong Public Health Department this afternoon (January 23rd) announced one new confirmed case of the Covid-19 Coronavirus in Rayong.
Rayong now has a total of 573 cases of Covid-19 with one death. The man, aged 45, worked at a high-risk place in Rayong. He had personal health issues disclosed as diabetes and heart disease.
Of those 573, 538 are Thais, while 35 are foreigners/migrant workers. Of those 753, 525 are recovered.
This was the only case of Covid-19 in all four “high-risk” Eastern provinces today after a day with zero cases yesterday. The case is connected to prior contact tracing, according to the Rayong Department of Public Health, and was not exposed to the general public.
Despite the significant improvement in case numbers, all four Eastern provinces (Chonburi, Rayong, Trat, and Chanthaburi) remain under tough travel restrictions and closure measures that have tens of thousands of people out of work. The Thai government has stated multiple times they do not plan any early lifting or evaluation of these measures and will have a meeting on January 31st to discuss them.
