Motorbike driver buying food for his young twin sons killed by hit and run truck driver going the wrong way in Chonburi

Chonburi-

A motorbike driver has been pronounced dead at the scene after colliding with a trailer truck which was driving the opposite way in Mueang Chonburi. The truck driver first fled the scene before police caught him three kilometers away.

The Mueang Chonburi Police was notified of the accident after noon on Sunday, November 29, this weekend on flyover Number 7, Section 2 in the Baan Suan sub-district.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the body of the motorbike driver Mr. Supachock Choorit, 30, near his damaged motorbike. Eggs and kitchen items were found scattered nearby as he had been carrying groceries.

A witness, Ms. Warakorn Kerdnongmon, 39, told police that she saw the trailer truck which was driving the opposite way crash into the motorbike and run over the driver.

The driver sped away with his truck. Warakorn took a photo of the truck which police used to locate the suspect.

The motorbike driver’s emotional wife who came to see her husband at the scene told The Pattaya News, “My husband went out to buy food and toys for our six month old twin sons.”

The driver, Mr. Noppakao Kemgnern, 42, was caught with the truck three kilometers away from the scene.

He told police that the truck was running out of gas. He was afraid that if he drove the right way, he might not arrive at the gas station. He claimed he did not mean to drive the opposite way. He also said he didn’t meant to run away but panicked.

Police said the driver is facing charges with reckless driving causing death and hit and run.
