Massive iron coils fall off truck in Banglamung, collisions narrowly averted

Banglamung-

A trailer truck had a mishap yesterday after dropping multiple large iron coils on a road in Banglamung (November 25th).

The Huay Yai Police was notified of the incident at 4:30PM on Ror Yor 2015 Road in Ban Plang Paed in Khao Maikaew.

They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a trailer truck parked on the side of the road with the driver waiting for police. Eight massive iron coils which weigh about 4 tons each were found scattered on the road.

Luckily, there were no injuries traced back to the mishap, however, a guardrail and the road surface suffered damages relating to the weight of the coils.

The trailer truck driver, Mr. Pisarn Thongbor, 41, told The Pattaya News, “Another vehicle rushed out in front of me with no warning at high speed just before a curve in the road while I was transporting the coils.”

“I tried to avoid the collision but lost control of the trailer truck while swerving. Chains which were used to hold the coils snapped due to the sudden movement, sending the coils onto the road. Luckily, there were no vehicles behind me and I quickly called authorities and helped warn incoming drivers of the potential damage as the coils had dropped right near a curve and someone driving quickly could have hit them if we had not taken quick action.”

The coils were later moved out from the road using special equipment brought in by Huay Yai authorities.
