Sky Walk, Cruise Terminal, improved Walking Street to be developed, says Mayor

Pattaya –

Pattaya is preparing for three new tourism projects to help develop Pattaya tourism including a Sky Walk and Cruise Terminal near Bali Hai Pier at Thap Phraya Hill.

The Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khumpluem told The Pattaya News that, “We are planning to develop several major Pattaya tourism places which are Pattaya Walking Street, the Bali Hai Pier and Thap Phraya Hill.”

“These places will be developed as new Pattaya landmarks while still keeping what has made these areas previously popular.”

“The pier design has already been completed. The next step is to present the design to relevant agencies for an EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment).”

“Meanwhile, a world class Sky Walk is planned to be built at Thap Phraya Hill which will feature stunning views and architecture.”

“The Cruise Terminal is planned to be constructed at the pier to support EEC (Eastern Economic Corridor).

Meanwhile, the Pattaya Walking Street is to be renovated and improved to make it truly world class for shopping, eating and nightlife.”

“A roof is planned to be built along the Walking Street, the road will be improved, restrooms will be added and recreation areas will be created on the beach side. The current leading plan involves building a lagoon around the Walking Street beach side and an artificial beach and park. This will not involve, however, getting rid of popular business and nightlife as some rumors stated but rather improving the look and feel of the area and enabling it to be as lively in the daytime as the nighttime while still keeping the vibrancy and feel.” concluded the Mayor.

The Pattaya News notes that all these projects are likely years away and have already been discussed for many years.
