Chonburi-
One person was found dead in a canal while two people sustained injuries in a double accident in the Pan Thong district last week.
Police were notified of the accident earlier last week on Motorway 7 in the Baan Khao sub-district.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a damaged Toyota sedan on the bridge.
Mr. Anuwat Sanekaew, a truck driver, told police that he saw the damaged Toyota sedan on the bridge near a damaged guardrail. He stopped his truck to offer assistance to the two people in the vehicle.
Two people inside the sedan had sustained moderate injuries. He tried to help them out while waiting for police and emergency responders.
While waiting for emergency services, a second Honda sedan crashed into the damaged Toyota sedan.
The two injured people inside the Toyota sedan were thrown into a nearby canal and Mr. Anuwat broke both his legs. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
Rescue divers arrived at the scene where they managed to rescue one of the two from the Toyota sedan who was the driver.
Eight hours later they found the female passenger’s body nearby who was identified as Major Prapatsorn Boongnern, a police nurse. Her age was not given.
However, police are continuing their investigation to identify if any charges will be pressed against either driver. The name of the second driver who crashed into the Toyota sedan was not given by police but the individual was taken by police for questioning and was apparently not injured.
