A female taxi driver in Pattaya reportedly admitted to being intoxicated after she had crashed her taxi into two cars on Khao Talo Road early Thursday morning, March 7th.
Police officers from the Nongprue Police Station responded to the accident at 03:30 AM today at the entrance of Soi 10, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.
Upon arrival at the scene, police found a yellow-and-blue taxi from the Pattaya Taxi Cooperative with a Chonburi license plate. A Thai woman, Ms. Siriwan (family name withheld), 42, was identified as the driver and was under the influence of alcohol, according to the police. The taxi had collided with two parked vehicles, including an Isuzu D-Max pickup truck and a Toyota pickup truck parked by the side of the road. The cars sustained minor damage.
Mr. Chayathorn Srilert, the owner of the damaged Isuzu D-Max, reported that he was sitting with friends outside a bar when he heard a loud crash. He witnessed the taxi collide with his vehicle before hitting another parked pickup truck and ultimately losing control, crashing into the front of the bar.
According to Nongprue police, Ms. Siriwan admitted to being intoxicated and driving the taxi with her partner and accidentally hitting the parked cars during a verbal argument with him. She stated that the collision caused her to lose control, leading to the final crash into the bar.
The police subsequently took Ms. Siriwan for an alcohol test. Legal proceedings against her are expected to follow based on the investigation’s findings and the results of the alcohol test.
