Pattaya-

An intoxicated sedan driver reportedly ran a red light before colliding with two cars, two ‘big bikes’, two pedestrians and a motorbike early this morning (November 17th).

Major Saijai Kamjunja of The Pattaya City Police was notified of the accident at 4:30 AM at the Chaiyapruek Intersection in Nongprue.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find three damaged cars, two damaged big bikes and a motorbike.

Two injured people were found on the footpath who had been walking nearby and were injured during the incident. They were taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

The intoxicated driver was found passed out inside his sedan. He had sustained slight head injuries. Rescue workers managed to wake him up.

The sedan driver, Mr. Anan Pajaroen, 35, was taken to the Pattaya police station for further investigation and legal charges. He declined medical assistance but was severely intoxicated. Police stated he would be given a full blood alcohol test at the police station.

A witness, Mr. Tanawat Rojanatiyanon, 17, told The Pattaya News that the sedan, which was driving at high speed, ran a red light before crashing into a car and other parked vehicles on the side of the road nearby.

The Pattaya News noted that locals nearby initially thought that the two pedestrians involved in the accident were road racers and had been part of the cause of the accident.

The local residents had allegedly started a fight with the road accident victims but police immediately stopped them.
