Pattaya mobile sterilization and vaccination truck for stray cats and dogs is officially being deployed, city working to control stray animal problem

Pattaya-

The first mobile sterilization and vaccination truck for Pattaya to treat stray cats and dogs has officially been deployed for the first day yesterday (November 12th).

The first service in South Pattaya was led by Deputy Mayor Manooch Nongyai and the head Pattaya City veterinarian Mr. Suraphong Wongsuthawart.

Mr. Manooch told The Pattaya News, “There are many stray cats and dogs in Pattaya. The numbers of them are increasing significantly over the past several months. This is due to many factors, such as reduced foreign tourists and more vacant areas to enter as well as many people went home to different provinces due to lack of work and unfortunately abandoned their pets after the Covid-19 lockdown.”

“The mobile truck is aimed to solve the increasing problem of stray cats and dogs in Pattaya in a humane manner.”

“This is the first day of the mobile truck officially being utilized outside of a controlled environment and being utilized on patrol in Pattaya.” Manooch added.

“About two to three cats and dogs can utilize the service at the same time.”

Anyone who wants to use the service or wants to report an area with a large stray animal population that may need assistance can call the city call center at 1337. If you know an area with many stray dogs and cats please call and inform us. We have been informed of many areas already and are aware of the population in places such as Pattaya Hill, the Pratumnak area and Dongtan Beach and most of these animals have already been properly treated. We are interested in areas where there may be large populations that may be off the beaten track or not get as much attention.” Manooch added.

“The truck will be utilized when there are about six to ten cats and dogs in the same area being reported for needed sterilization and vaccination.” Manooch concluded.

The Pattaya News has reported multiple times over the past few months on the rising stray animal population since the Covid-19 pandemic began in Pattaya and the viewpoints and voices of local residents on this situation. Banglamung is also looking at building larger, more humane shelters to help with the increasing stray animal problem, however, this is some time away.
