The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced over the past weekend a statement from the Office of the Insurance Commission of Thailand (OIC) that foreign visitors will now be able to purchase compulsory COVID-19 insurance policy online prior to visiting the Kingdom.
The TAT Governor, Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, told the Thai Public Relations Department (PRD) over the weekend that “A medical insurance policy with at least $100,000 US coverage or about 3.16 million Baht for possible COVID-19 treatment is among several official documents required from foreign visitors who are planning to visit Thailand during the current pandemic.”
A total of sixteen Thai insurance companies have signed up to the program, according to Yuthasak.
https://covid19.tgia.org/ is the website address for foreign visitors to sign up for the insurance if they wish to do so, according to the Thai Tourism Authority. Coverage begins immediately upon arrival in Thailand and there is no need for advance payment or any extra expenses when admitted at private hospitals in the Kingdom.
Thailand is still letting in only very limited numbers of visitors, the Tourism Authority advises those interested to see if they qualify to enquire with their local embassy or consulate. General tourism is still prohibited and borders are closed to the general public.
