Saen Suk, Chonburi-
Warning signs have been posted to prevent tourists from feeding monkeys after a Thai couple suffered bites at the Sam Mook Hill near Bang Saen beach this week while they were taking pre-wedding photos.
A Facebook user posted a warning saying that his relative Mr. Suwat Thongyao, 38, was bitten by a monkey as it tried to snatch a bag from him while they were taking photos for a pre-wedding gallery.
Yesterday, October 8, 2020, the Saen Suk Municipality installed signs to advise people against feeding monkeys in the area.
Mr. Jaroenchai Yimyam, Saen Suk veterinarian assistant, told The Pattaya News “The number of monkeys has increased greatly during the Covid-19 situation. Some of them are angry and not friendly. With a severe lack of tourists many have become more aggressive.”
“Tourists should not feed these monkeys and keep their belongings with them at all times.” Jaroenchai added.
“Anyone bitten must stop the bleeding first and clean their wounds before going to a hospital for rabies treatments.” He concluded.
