Thailand regarded by the United States as one of only seven low risk countries for Covid-19

Thailand-

Thailand is one of only seven countries categorized in the latest US travel advisory as being at low-risk for COVID-19 infections while 241 other countries or territories are still considered high-risk.

The other six low-risk places are New Zealand, Fiji, and islands in the Caribbean, including Bonorae, Saba, Sint Eustatius, and Saint Barthélemy.

Sirirerk Songsivilai, Secretary-General of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), announced last Saturday, August 9, that the list is a significant change and welcome news for Thailand.

“American people are not recommended to travel to every country since March 19. But the situation in some territories has now improved. The country then made the travel advisory list categorized by a country-by-country assessment.”

“The list, of course, is good news for Thailand.” Sirirerk stated to the Associated Press.

The US travel advisory was prepared by the US State Department and the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) based on periodical infection assessments, travel problems, basic healthcare infrastructure, and medical professionals, as well as the management of disease control in each location.

Thailand still ranks on a global index as number one in the world to make a health recovery effort against the Covid-19 pandemic and currently has no confirmed or recorded Covid-19 locally-contacted cases in the last 77 days.

The Pattaya News notes that there is also a very low risk category on the list which includes Laos and Taiwan.
