Pattaya-

CHON BURI, 2 March 2018 – Chon Buri and relevant organizations have collaborated to develop Pattaya as a city of “Tourism for All,” by constructing facilities for the elderly and persons with disabilities.

The Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (Public Organization) and the Friendly Design For All Foundation on Thursday launched a project to develop tourist sites under the concept of “Tourism for All in Pattaya” and its surrounding regions. The idea is to help everyone, regardless of their age and physical ability, to travel conveniently and safely in the Pattaya area. The concept of friendly design will be used to develop the tourist sites.

Minister of Tourism and Sports, Weerasak Kowsurat, and Minister of Transport Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, jointly presided over the opening ceremony of the project in the province.

Eighteen organizations in both the public and private sectors signed an agreement on the establishment of “Tourism for All tourist sites” in the resort city.

Local authorities stated to the press that they hope to brand Pattaya as a city where disabled and elderly citizens will come to visit to enjoy activities and attractions geared to them. What exactly this means at this point has yet to be revealed, exactly. The authorities also stated this is part of the plan to help revamp the cities image as a seedy tourist destination and a party city into one where all tourists can come and enjoy themselves and enjoy authentic Thai attractions.
