Shooting Incident at Concert in Kalasin Claims Two Lives and Leaves One Injured

Kalasin—

At 1:00 AM, on November 4th, 2023, Nong Kung Si police officers received a shooting incident report at a northeastern-style concert in Nong Kung Si, Kalasin. There were two casualties and one serious injury reported.

A rescue team and Nong Kung Si medical personnel were dispatched to the incident scene and found two persons who were shot critically and a 12-year-old boy found dead.

Unfortunately, Mr. Khwanchai Pannoi, a 55-year-old village chief, was later announced dead after being transferred to the Nong Kung Si Hospital, and Mr. Prasit Pangchanda, 54, was still being hospitalized.

According to the police report, the alleged gunman was identified as Mr. Chanachai Suwanthip, 18, and was arrested with a 9 mm firearm.
On an initial investigation, Chanachai reportedly had taken three amphetamine pills before heading to the northeastern-style concert to avenge his friend who allegedly was assaulted by another group of youngsters.

The village chief and security team then attempted to dissuade and put Chanachai down to the ground. However, Chanachai resisted and fired his firearm with 7 rounds at the aforementioned persons.

Mr. Winai Sapaiwan, a witness, reportedly told the police officers that before the quarrel between the two groups, the security team attempted to dissuade Chanachai. But with Chanachai’s hotheaded obsession to avenge his friend, he committed murder crimes against innocent people instead.

Mr. Sanan Phong-aksorn, the Kalasin Governor, ordered to proceed according to law and asked relevant agencies to aid the wounded and deceased families.
