CAAT Addresses Complaints Over Flight Rescheduling by Nok Air, Advocates Passenger Rights

National—

On November 28th, 2023, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) publicly revealed a discussion with Nok Air during meetings on November 13th and 20th, on complaints about rescheduling flights frequently.

According to a report by Thai reporters, many netizens posted their critiques on social media about Nok Air allegedly rescheduling their flights.

One of the netizens complained that Nok Air allegedly rescheduled his flight from 7:10 PM to 11:35 PM, Phuket (HKT) to Don Mueang (BKK), as a result, another unidentified netizen missed his flight from BKK to Chiang Mai (CNX) from the delay, reported Thai national media.

Consequently, CAAT gave guidelines on better flight management plans as upcoming festivals for the New Year holidays are in December. The airlines in Thailand were advised to seek cooperation with the destination airport in advance in case of flight delays so that passengers could acknowledge the problems and guidelines from the airport.

Additionally, in case of canceling or changing flights from airlines, to protect passengers’ rights, the airlines must provide food and beverages to them while waiting for the flights. The changing flight schedule by the airlines must be done without additional fees and airlines may offer a refund or keep the fare for future travel with them on the customer’s next flight.
