Covid-19 “special” 19 baht chicken and rice is a big hit in Naklua with local residents

Naklua-

A chicken and rice shop in Naklua has gone viral on Thai social media after they started selling 19 baht chicken and rice in front of the Imnom shop.

Mr. Ataphon Soisai, 30 years old, spoke with The Pattaya News in front of several customers yesterday afternoon, January 25th, 2021.  He stated that the shop had only been open for a few days in front of Imnom and the thought process was to present quality chicken and rice at a “19 baht” Covid-19 price. He stated that it was enough to break even with and take care of his staff but that the real point was to help out people struggling in the Naklua and Pattaya area currently due to Covid-19 restrictions and measures.

Chonburi remains a “deep red” province and is highly controlled and restricted currently. Government orders have also closed many business venues and even those that open are mostly quiet due to lack of domestic tourists as one can only enter the province with written permission from district officials.

As a result, Ataphon had the idea to sell “Covid-19” chicken and rice for 19 baht and the response has been terrific he said.

The deal is available from 12:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. daily until the situation improves in Chonburi and Banglamung and everyone is welcome according to Ataphon. Customer reviews at the restaurant were all thumbs up when asked by our reporters yesterday afternoon.
