Chonburi annual Buffalo Racing festival has officially begun

The annual Chonburi Buffalo Racing Festival, the 149th Edition is being held until October 4. Today the festival has officially begun.

The festival started this year on September 28 with ceremonial rituals. The official launching ceremony was held today in front of the Mueang Chonburi District Office led by the Chonburi Vice Governor Mr. Tammasak Rattatanya.

A Buffalo parade was held around the city before the opening ceremony.

Local activities and games are also being held during the festival. Additionally, homemade products and food are being sold.

The highlight of the festival is the Buffalo Racing. The buffalo racing winner gets prizes valued at one million baht.

It is expected that many Thai tourists and resident foreigners will take part in the festival which is estimated to generate about at least 30 million baht for Chonburi.
