Five arrested at Pattaya checkpoint with type of machine gun and illegal drugs

Pattaya, Banglamung, Chonburi –

Five suspects have been arrested at a checkpoint in Pattaya this morning. Police seized a type of machine gun, a handgun, bullets and a variety of illegal drugs.

The Pattaya City checkpoint was set up on North Pattaya Road near the Sukhumvit Intersection at 8:00 AM this morning.

During regular operations a vehicle with five occupants was stopped at the checkpoint. Two women and three men were in the sedan. Their names were not released by Pattaya Police and at least some were reportedly juveniles.

Pattaya Police found a machine gun, a handgun, bullets and five bags of crystal methamphetamine and three bags of Ecstasy.(The exact weight of the drugs was not revealed.).

One of the suspects allegedly admitted to Pattaya Police that all those items belonged to him. He claimed he had the machine gun to protect himself from a powerful enemy without explaining further.

All five suspects were taken to the Pattaya City Police station for drug testing and legal processing. All of them were tested with ‘purple urine’, which is a positive test for crystal methamphetamine.

Pattaya Police are continuing their investigation in the incident and filing further legal charges.
