Chonburi bus driver seriously injured while repairing bus

Chonburi-

A local bus driver has sustained serious injuries while repairing a bus and then becoming trapped yesterday afternoon in the Ban Bueang area of Chonburi.

Rescue workers were notified of the incident yesterday afternoon on the Bypass Road in Baan Suan.

Rescue workers arrived at the scene to find the injured party, Mr. Samrit Phetphunok, 50, trapped beneath the front of the bus.

It took about 30 minutes to free him from beneath the bus. He was rushed to a local hospital for medical assistance and a full evaluation.

His wife, whose name was withheld at her request, told The Pattaya News that an axel on the bus was broken. They could not find a nearby repair shop for the axel.

Her husband tried to fix it by himself but failed, causing the bus to collapse partially onto him.

He remains in a local hospital under treatment for rib related injuries, according to rescue staff from Ban Bueang.
