Norwegian man drowns in condominium pool in Pattaya

Jomtien-

A Norwegian man drowned at a pool in a condominium in Jomtien this afternoon.

Major Thanin Knapai of The Pattaya City Police was notified of the incident at 5:00 PM.

Police, The Pattaya News and rescue workers arrived at the scene to find the body of a 63 year old Norwegian man near the pool edge.

Per editorial policy The Pattaya News has withheld the name of the victim and condo pending a full investigation, family and embassy contact.

A security guard, Mr. Phiband Wandee, 45 years old, at the condominium told police that he saw the man was swimming in the pool around 4:45 PM while on a routine security walk around the premises.

Not long after that Phiband was walking back from his rounds and saw the Norwegian faced down in the pool.

Phiband told The Pattaya News he jumped into the pool and pulled the Norwegian up but it was too late.

Pattaya police are continuing their investigation to find the cause of death. They will also be reviewing if the area has CCTV and what happened prior to the incident. It is not believed the condo has a regular lifeguard.
