Three vehicle accident in Jomtien turns into chaos when drunken driver wearing only underwear attacks Pattaya Police-video

Pattaya-
Four people have sustained moderate to serious injuries after a heavily intoxicated pickup truck driver crashed into another vehicle, a motorbike taxi driver and a power pole this morning.

Captain Kittipat Kamnon of the Pattaya City Police was notified of the incident at 2:30AM on Thrappraya Second Road, across from View Talay 5 near a 7-eleven convenience store.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a damaged pickup truck had come to a stop after crashing into a power pole.

Police eventually arrested the heavily intoxicated pickup driver, who was not injured, and was continually shouting his name (Chaiyaphon Phumkong) and challenging police and bystanders to a fight over the incident. He was also wearing only underwear for unknown reasons.

Chaiyaphon’s passenger, a foreigner whose name was only given as Jason, had sustained very minor injuries and was attempting to calm him down.

In front of the pickup truck officers found another injured party, 21 year old Issapark Singkaboon. He was taken to a local hospital.

A damaged motorbike taxi was found nearby. The taxi motorbike driver had sustained minor injuries and declined medical assistance.

His Chinese passenger, however, had sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. The name of the passenger was not given to the press by Pattaya Police.

Mr. Issapark told The Pattaya News that he had just parked his BMW on the side of the road before starting to walk into the 7-eleven.

Mr. Issapark stated that the pickup truck driven by Chaiyaphon was driving at extremely high speed and crashed in to the taxi motorbike, knocking the Chinese passenger off and severely injuring them, before crashing into the back of his car and finally a power pole.

He was slightly hit but luckily had sustained minor injuries. He still went to the hospital for a suggested check up.

Mr. Chaiyaphon, who was enraged over the incident, was challenging the police and victims as well as press and bystanders to a fight. He shoved a police officer and was detained in handcuffs then attempted to fight, still in handcuffs, several bystanders.

He was arrested and remains in custody facing multiple charges of drunken driving, assault and resisting arrest.
