Thai man caught with live grenade at security checkpoint in Central Pattaya

Pattaya-

A 26 year old Thai man from Buriram was caught with a live grenade at a security checkpoint in Central Pattaya at 11:00 PM last evening, December 28, 2019.

The man, who police would only name as Mr. Seksan, was acting suspiciously as he went through a checkpoint on Soi Ko Phai in Central Pattaya last night. Officers, led by Cpt. Gen. Ratchaprang Wangthangsang, selected the man for further investigation.

They searched a black backpack he had with him and discovered one MK 2 grenade in the bag. The local bomb squad was called to the scene to handle the device.

Mr. Seksan claimed he did not know the grenade was in the bag and that a friend had placed it there. Police did not believe his story and took him into custody at the checkpoint.

Mr. Seksan was taken to the Pattaya police station to be interrogated further and faces significant charges for possession of the device.
