Nonthaburi Tragic Discovery: Toddler Found Dead in Refrigerator, Incident Under Investigation

Nonthaburi—

At 8:30 AM, on January 6th, 2024, Bang Bua Thong police officers received a report that a toddler was found dead inside a refrigerator at a house on Rattanathibet Road, Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi.

Forensic science officers and rescue teams were dispatched to the incident scene and found a 2-year-old toddler wrapped in a cloth bag inside a refrigerator. Initially, the forensic science officers assumed that the toddler was dead for 3 days.

This house had four other members whose names were publicly identified only as Mr. Bank, a stepfather, Mrs. Koi, a stepmother, and Bank’s parents. The toddler, whose name was withheld by the police, lived with the family, however, the biological father asked the family to take care of the toddler as he had to work during the day.

Pol. Col. Pruet Chamrunsat, the Superintendent of Bang Bua Thong Police Station, publicly revealed that the Bang Bua Thong police officers received a report from Bank’s mother after the toddler had been missing for 3 days. However, a source of a strong foul smell was found in Bank’s room, said the police.

Koi reportedly said to the police officers that the toddler allegedly ate sticky rice but it was stuck in his throat, causing him to die. She was allegedly shocked and afraid to call the ambulance. Koi allegedly waited for her husband, Bank, to come home. After that, Bank wrapped the toddler inside a cloth bag before keeping the body inside the refrigerator since January 2nd, Koi said to the police.

However, Odd, Bank’s father, said to police that he believed the toddler was killed by the stepparents as Bank allegedly frequently hit the toddler.

The case is under investigation as of press time.

Initially, the police would contact the biological parents for further investigation and the autopsy results would be available after 3 days.
