Family and relatives perform funeral for the 15th victim of the Mountain B club fire in Sattahip

Sattahip —

Family and relatives performed a funeral for the 15th victim of the Mountain B fire yesterday, August 7th, while his 63-year-old mother said the victim was the breadwinner of the family.

The Buddhist funeral of Mr. Thanakrit Neenoi, 36, the 15th casualty of the Mountain B fire was arranged in the Bang Saray subdistrict of Sattahip yesterday among his bereaved family, relatives, and Sattahip officials, coming to pay their condolences.

Thanakrit was the most recent casualty, dying at Rayong Hospital after being severely burnt while celebrating his birthday at Mountain B with his friends and wife. Thanakrit and his group were reportedly deemed the most unfortunate victims, as he and three of his friends had died while his wife remained in a coma at Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital in Bangkok.

Yoswat Phuwaratlertkhun, Chief of Sattahip’s Kled Kaew subdistrict, who attended the funeral, stated that he would do everything in his power to help the victim’s family arrange the funeral. Yoswat reportedly said that he was speechless after seeing the incident scene and that he shared the grief with the victim’s family.

Atchara Neenoi, the 63-year-old mother of the latest victim, revealed that the victim owned a tiny retail store and was the main feeder of the family. He came to Mountain B to celebrate his birthday at around 5 PM, Atchara stated, and suddenly went out of contact till he was found again in critical condition at Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital.

“I find many things suspicious about this incident, especially the fire exit, which still cannot be determined for sure whether it was locked or not,” the victim’s mother voiced her doubt. “If it was not locked, why did everyone need to cram at the front door? If all exits were unlocked and accessible, my son may be alive.”
