Farm owner Kraisorn Dusadee, 47, told officials that local residents heard dozens of elephants coming to swim in the pond but all of them were afraid to come out and witness the incident. They waited until the morning and discovered the calf floating in the water.

According to the initial examination, the male calf was aged about 6 to 7 months and was expected to be stomped on by accident by the other elephants and eventually drowned. The body would be delivered for an autopsy at Khao Ang Rue Nai Wildlife Sanctuary in the following step.
