Motorbike passenger thrown into ditch after crashing into pickup truck in Banglamung

A motorbike passenger who was thrown into a ditch has broken both arms after the motorbike she was riding on crashed into a pickup truck in Banglamung this afternoon (January 25th).

Lieutenant Colonel Nitipoom Butwong of the Huayyai Police was notified of the accident this afternoon in Baan Plang Kao in Khao Maikaew.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a damaged motorbike and the pickup truck on the road.

In the ditch nearby rescue workers found the injured party, Ms. Namfon Panyai, 23, who was a motorbike passenger. She had broken both arms but was calm and concious. She was pulled up from the ditch by a concerted effort from rescue workers.

The motorbike driver was found on the road, Ms. Jariya Anisong, 25, who had broken her right arm. They were both taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

The pickup truck driver, Mr. Warakun Inthornanong, 56, was waiting at the scene, uninjured.

He told The Pattaya News, “The motorbike driver crashed into the back of my pickup truck at an intersection. The passenger was thrown into the ditch nearby and I immediately jumped out of my vehicle to see if I could assist. The two girls were very lucky to not be more seriously hurt.”

Huayyai police are checking CCTV at the intersection to verify the exact cause of the accident.
