RECAP: Thailand reports 297 domestic infections among 309 new Coronavirus cases in past 24 hours

The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced 297 domestic infections among a total of 309 new Coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours at a press conference this morning, January 22nd.

80 out of 297 local transmissions were discovered in Samut Sakhon with 49, Bangkok 8, Pratum Thani 6, Tak 5, Ratchaburi 3, Samut Prakan 2, Ayutthaya 2, Kanchanaburi 2, Phetchaburi 2, and Nonthaburi 1.

The other 217 domestic cases are found during active case finding by provincial public health officials, with a vast majority in Samut Sakhon (212) and some in Bangkok (5). They are now at state quarantine with no exposure to the general population. This means that 80 cases were found locally transmitted today in Thailand.

A total of 382 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now had a total of 13,104 cases with 10,224 recoveries since the start of the pandemic.

CCSA spokesperson Taweesin Visanuyuthin also mentioned the reopening of 13 types of business in Bangkok from today onwards following what he described as the capability to control the spread of the new wave of COVID-19 infections in the capital.
