For the first time in a month, Rayong announces zero new cases of Covid – 19

The Rayong Covid – 19 center this afternoon (January 22nd) announced zero new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the past day.

This is the first time since late December and a month long period of business closures and restrictions that zero cases have been found.

Rayong now has a total of 572 cases of Covid-19 with one death. The man, aged 45, worked at a high-risk place in Rayong. He had personal health issues disclosed as diabetes and heart disease.

Of those 572, 537 are Thais while 35 are foreigners/migrant workers. Of those 572, 516 are recovered.

The Rayong Governor, Mr. Channa Eiamsang, told the local media today, “Although the number of new confirmed cases is now zero please be careful and do not let your guard down.”

“Please ensure everyone is still social distancing, mask wearing, hand washing, temperature testing and using the ‘Thai Chana’ application in order to bring the overall situation of Rayong back to normal as soon as possible.”

“We will consider the easing of Covid-19 restrictions later.” The Governor added, without giving a timeline or specific dates.
