Pattaya Food Industry establishes Thailand’s first ‘Factory Quarantine’ inside its factory in Samut Sakhon

Samut Sakhon –

Pattaya Food Industry Company Limited, known for its production of a popular Thai canned food called ‘Nautilus’, has established Thailand’s first factory Quarantine inside their factory in Samut Sakhon province in order to accommodate infected patients and medical officers during their Covid-19 treatment period. This follows a large number of cases reportedly being found in their factory, nearly all asymptomatic and in migrant workers.

The area was divided into Green, Yellow, and Red Zones. The Green Zone is a factory-related operation area, the Yellow is for an operational area for doctors and medical officers, including private areas for changing clothes before entering the quarantine area. The Red Zone is where infected people are quarantined with a capability of 600 people.

Other facilities, including a dining area, restrooms, shower area, clothes washing area, and exercise area will be provided within the red zone as the patients are not allowed to leave the area until they are determined to be clear from the virus with two consecutive negative tests which generally takes about two weeks.

Samut Sakhon authorities also encourage other manufacturing companies to stage a similar facility for infected Thai and migrant workers as many of them are discovered daily in Samut Sakhon, resulting in an insufficient authorized quarantine space.
