The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has notified the change of booking period from 30 days ahead to three days before the departure date and the sale of only half of the seats to prevent the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus.
SRT governor Nirut Maneephan revealed yesterday, January 12th, that in order to increase service efficiency and safety under the situation of Covid-19 coronavirus, the SRT would like to notify passengers to manage the booking period from 30 days ahead to three days ahead of the departure date.
Moreover, only 50 percent of the tickets are sold for all train seats in accordance with the temporary social distancing measures. The changes are starting from today, January 13th, onwards until further notice.
The governor stated that the adjustments are to comply with the announcement of the Ministry of Transport regarding the ultimate health measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus in implementing social distancing measures within the public station and for all types of public transportation.
“Currently, public transportation and service in many provinces are changing their regulations for traveling across provinces to comply with the Transport Ministry announcement,” he concluded.
