Motorbike taxi driver running red light hits teenage student on motorbike in Sattahip

A motorbike taxi driver reportedly ran a red light before colliding with a teenage student driving a motorbike in Sattahip yesterday evening.

Captain Udom Srimart of the Na Jomtien Police was notified of the accident at 5:10PM at an intersection on Sukhumvit Road.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find two injured motorbike drivers who were named as Ms. Chatwilai Laopanna, 18, and a male taxi motorbike driver, Mr. Tawin Samila, 58. They were both taken to a local hospital.

Chatwilai told Na Jomtien police that she was driving through a green light when Mr. Samila ran through a red light, crashing into her.

Mr. Samila reportedly admitted to police that he ran the traffic light illegally.

Na Jomtien police were checking CCTV footage at the intersection for further potential legal action and are considering charges against Mr. Samila.
