Cambodian man seriously injured in hit and run by two vehicles in Banglamung

A Cambodian man has sustained serious injuries after being hit by two vehicles in a row before both drivers sped away in the Pong sub-district last night.

Major Rapeepong Mahapas of the Huayyai Police was notified of the accident at 10:30 PM at a U-turn in Klong Yai on Road No 36.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a damaged motorbike sidecar on the road.

Nearby rescue staff found 31 year old Mr Vat Wi, a Cambodian national who had sustained serious injuries. An unidentified passenger had sustained minor injuries. They were both taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

A witness told The Pattaya News that the motorbike side car driven by Mr. Wi was first hit by another vehicle at the U-Turn who also fled the scene.

Mr. Wi fell off his motorbike sidecar and onto the road according to the witness after being hit by the first vehicle.

A pickup truck which was driving with allegedly high speed ran over Mr. Wi before speeding away, the witness stated.

Banglamung police are checking CCTV footage for further legal action and to identify both vehicles that fled the scene of the accident.
