The Banglamung District Police Officials tonight (January 1st) has raided a bar beer in the Jomtien area for allegedly offending an order regarding closing due to high numbers of Covid -19 cases in Banglamung.
The total number of Chonburi confirmed cases in this new series of infections is now 211.

The Chonburi Governor released an emergency order this week for the Banglamung/Pattaya area to help control the Covid-19 coronavirus situation which including service venues closed, including bars, nightclubs, karaoke’s, massage parlors, etc.

The raid tonight was led by the Banglamung Administrative Chief Officer Phonchai Sangeiad.
They arrived at the bar beer to find lots of Thais and foreigners inside the bar. The name of the venue has been withheld pending a full legal investigation by police.
The bar manager, whose name was not given to The Pattaya News, was taken to the Banglamung District Office for further legal action.
The Pattaya News noted that the punishment for offending the Disease Control Order is a fine of up to 100,000 baht and/or up to a year in prison. The bar management reportedly claimed the venue was a restaurant, which is also on their sign, however no food or meals were allegedly being served according to Phonchai. The Pattaya News also notes, however, there is no rule about having to serve food with an alcoholic drink. The status of the licenses of the premise around food and restaurants was not revealed to The Pattaya News team.
Banglamung law enforcement also warned venues that are not truly restaurants around not becoming “popup” bars.
