Unidentified motorbike driver killed after crashing into the back of a truck in Banglamung at high speed

Banglamung, Chonburi-

An unidentified motorbike driver has been pronounced dead at the scene after crashing into the back of a truck delivering iron and construction materials in Banglamung this evening.

Captain Prakasit Pladet of the Banglamung Police was notified of the accident at 6:30 P.M. on Seventh Road (Baan Rong Heep) in the Takean Tia area.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the body of the unidentified man who was aged around thirty near his damaged motorbike. It was believed by first responders that he been killed instantly in the collision. He had not been wearing a helmet.

At the entrance of a side Soi, Banglamung Police found the truck involved in the collision which was carrying iron bars and other construction-related parts. The driver, Mr. Prasit Poorahong, 26, was waiting for the police at the scene.

Prasit told police that he did not know exactly why the motorbike slammed into the back of his truck as he had not made any lane changes or quick stops, according to his statement. Prasit claimed he was making a legal turn into a Soi and had his turn signal on.

At this stage, Banglamung police believe that the motorbike driver, who was driving at very high speed according to witnesses in the vicinity, was unable to slow fast enough to avoid colliding with the turning truck. They stated to a reporter that it was unlikely Mr. Prasit would be charged in this particular accident.

Banglamung Police are working on confirming the identity of the driver whose body was taken to a local hospital.
