Pattaya, Chonburi-
Chonburi Public Health Officials are providing free*(to qualified high-risk groups) Covid-19 testing this week throughout the province and Banglamung area following infections of Covid-19 in Chonburi over the past several weeks.
As infections have seemed to go down, with the last few days finding only three infections in all of Chonburi and those being traced directly from prior clusters and contacts, authorities with the Public Health Department have told the public they are now focusing on active test and trace which is essentially targeted mass testing of high-risk groups.
These groups include people who visited bars and entertainment venues in Si Racha, those who visited timeline locations released by the Public Health Department, anyone who believes they have Covid-19 symptoms, occupations who have a lot of exposure to people like supermarket and motorbike taxi workers, and migrant workers who live in densely packed communities. Registration is required and those interested and who are in a high-risk group should contact Banglamung at the following number as there are limited tests available each day: สสอ.บางละมุง วันละ 250 คน (038-221925)
Chonburi Health Officials hope that this targeted testing will show there is no widespread problem with Covid-19 in the area and hidden asymptomatic carriers. If this is the case then the Provincial Disease Committee will likely meet later in the month to discuss potentially (but not guaranteed) easing some restrictions and measures that have closed many local businesses and restricted inter-provincial travel, devastating the hotel industry and other venues that had just started to recover from prior damage done.
