Man seriously injured from accidental gunshot wound to his eye in Chonburi

Chonburi-

A man has sustained severe injuries from a gunshot wound to his eye in Mueang Chonburi.

The Mueang Chonburi Police was notified of the incident on Wednesday night in Baan Suan.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find Mr. Phoneak Atkaworapan, 36, from Samut Prakan screaming in pain and for help.

A bullet wound was found at his right eye. The handgun was found in his right hand. He was rushed to a local hospital for medical assistance.

Mr. Chaiya Klinmee, 21, who lives nearby, told police that he heard a gunshot sound before he found that Mr. Phoneak had been injured. He had no idea what had happened but called for emergency assistance.

At this stage, police believed that Mr. Phoneak was cleaning his gun when it accidentally went off. They do not believe based on evidence gathered so far that the action was taken on purpose by Mr. Phoneak.

Chonburi police are continuing their investigation.
