Sattahip – Huahin – Songkhla new ferry service to be test run next month

Chonburi, Thailand-

A brand new ferry service across the Gulf of Thailand from Sattahip to Prachuap Kirikhan (Hua Hin) to Songkhla will be test run next month.

The Marine Department Director General, Wittaya Yamuang told the Thai Press “The Seahorse Ferry Co. Ltd which is a ferry service for vehicles and passengers, will be test run from the ferry port in Sattahip, Chonburi and go to the Prachuap Kirikhan Port before going to the Southern Port in Songkhla.”

“The new route is aimed to improve the economy as well as to develop transportation which is friendly to the environment.”

“In addition, this is to decrease traffic problems and road accidents.”

“The ferry service from Sattahip to Songkhla will be tested for service next month.”

“The normal journey on the road for 1,130 kilometres takes about 24 hours from Sattahip to Songkhla.”

“While the journey by marine ferry for 611 kilometres will take about 20 hours.”

Details on cost, amenities and other items were not yet provided to the media as the ferry service is currently a test. If the test run is successful the ferry would likely be rolled out next year.
