One person is dead while another has sustained serious injuries after a motorbike crashed into a car near a motorway road in Mueang Chonburi yesterday.
Captain Daecha Dindang of the Don Huafor Police was notified of the incident at 1:00 PM yesterday on Suk Prayoon- Baankao Road at a traffic light near the Motorway Road.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a damaged car whose driver is 52 year old Ms. Phonthip Thongjan. She and her passenger, who is her mother, had sustained minor injuries.
Nearby rescue staff found a wrecked 400cc motorbike. The driver, Mr. Kietisal Mata, 32, from Chacherngsao, had sustained serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead by medical staff. A handgun was found with him, according to police.
His female passenger, who was not immediately identified, aged around 20 years old, had sustained serious injuries. She was taken to a local hospital for further medical assistance.
CCTV footage nearby shows that while Phontip was going to the Motorway Road Mr. Kietisal, who was driving with high speed according to police, had crashed into Ms. Phonthip.
Don Huafor police are continuing their investigation and checking more CCTV footage to determine exactly which party ran through the red light and is at fault in the incident.
