Pickup truck driver blames GPS after motorbike driver killed in Bang Lamung

Bang Lamung –
A motorbike driver has died after a collision with a pickup truck in Nongplalai at about midnight this morning.

Sawang Boriboon Thammsathan rescue workers and The Pattaya News were notified of the accident at 12:30AM at a U-turn on Sai 36 Road.

They arrived at the scene to find the body of a man aged around 35 -40 years old, who was deceased at the scene and the damaged motorbike on the road.

Nearby, they found the damaged pickup truck. The driver, 28 year old Ms. Rungtiwa Pomkhet was waiting for police at the scene.

The pickup truck driver said she was heading from Bangkok to Pattaya. She had used a GPS to navigate her journey.

The GPS had immediately told her to make a U-turn and she did. She was unable to see the motorbike as the road was too dark. The pickup truck had then collided with the motorbike.

She was taken to the Bang Lamung Police Station where she has been charged with reckless driving causing death. She insisted the fault was that of the GPS and not her own.
