Pattaya Deputy Mayor resigns for health reasons, replacement to be named October 1st

PATTAYA:–Pattaya Deputy Mayor Bandit Kunnajukr has resigned, citing health problems.

Mr. Bandit notified Mayor Anan Charoenchasri of his decision in writing Aug. 10, with Anan accepting it Aug. 15. City hall said a replacement would be named Oct. 1.

A former Provincial Police Region 2 commander, Bandit was appointed by the junta in February last year. He was tasked with overseeing peace and order, disaster prevention, traffic and tourism.

Mr. Anan said Bandit told him last year he only intended to work as deputy mayor for a year. The mayor said the resignation will have no impact on the projects Bandit oversaw.
