A 61 year old Thai man was arrested and charged with fleeing the scene of an accident after allegedly crashing his vehicle into a motorbike driver, a parked pickup truck and finally a line of food stalls in Si Racha last night then attempting to run.
Rescue workers were notified of the accident in Nong Kham at 9:30 PM last night, Thursday, July 30, 2020.
Rescue workers from the Si Racha area arrived at the accident scene to find two damaged pickup trucks with one that had crashed into a line of food stalls on the side of the road.
The driver, 61 year old Jatuphon Kanjanatawee, was being held down and forcefully restrained by local residents. He had attempted to flee the scene of the accident but outraged food vendors reportedly chased him, tackling him to the ground and holding him for Si Racha law enforcement officers.
A parked pickup truck was also damaged by the crash.
A motorbike driver who had sustained minor injuries in the incident, Mr. Kritsana Chuayra, 22, told Si Racha police that Jatuphon had first collided with him, then crashed into the other pickup truck and food vendors further down the road.
About one kilometer away from where Jatuphon had reportedly hit Mr. Kritsana, Jatuphon then crashed into several food stalls and the parked pickup truck.
Jatuphon is facing multiple charges related to the incident. Si Racha Law Enforcement did not state if the suspect was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
