An alleged purse snatcher was arrested in Si Racha earlier this week.

A team of Bowin Police led by Police Chief Colonel Paphonphan Baiya arrested 22 year old Thai man Maytas Moethong as the prime suspect in a purse snatching incident earlier this week.

Police seized a bag containing a mobile phone, 1,750 baht cash, a lottery ticket and some bank cards from the suspect.

Maytas, who was driving a motorbike, had allegedly snatched a bag from Ms. Supaphon Muangngam while she was driving a motorbike in another lane earlier this week.

She immediately reported the incident to police. Police officers used CCTV to successfully trace the suspect to his residence where he reportedly admitted to the theft.

Police stated that the suspect told investigative officers he had a gambling debt and resorted to the theft in order to pay off the debt. He is facing further legal action and remains in police custody.
