Pattaya Deputy Mayor Reviews Public Health Work, Pushes New Clinic and Flood-Season Disease Watch

PATTAYA: Deputy Mayor Wuttisak Roemkitkan chaired a September performance review of the Public Health and Environment Office on Monday, urging faster work on a new community health center, tighter disease surveillance after flooding, and stricter sanitation checks on local businesses.

The meeting was held at 1:30 p.m. in Meeting Room 242 of the Strategy and Budget Office. Wuttisak, assigned to act on behalf of the Pattaya mayor, led officials and department heads through September 2026 performance indicators and preparations for the fiscal year 2027 action plan, which is to align with city administration policy.

He also congratulated five section chiefs newly appointed to their posts and set out working principles: efficiency, transparency, and a clear focus on public benefit.

A main item on the agenda was progress at the new Boonkanjanaram Health Service Center. Officials were told to ready the facility so residents can use it more widely and reach health services more easily.

Wuttisak also ordered closer watch for infectious diseases that often rise during and after floods. Those named included dengue fever, leptospirosis, gastrointestinal illness, skin conditions and conjunctivitis, chickenpox, and respiratory infections. Staff were told to step up public information on prevention, keep close contact with residents, and stay ready for emerging, re-emerging, and serious contagious diseases.

On the Pattaya City Health Security Fund, the meeting reviewed projects meant to help residents, including a patient transport service intended to improve access to medical care and ease travel difficulties.

Officials were further instructed to tighten control of local establishments so they comply with the law, Pattaya City ordinances, and the Public Health Act, especially sanitation rules, in order to limit health risks and protect the public.
