SRI RACHA, CHONBURI: Somdet Phra Boromma Ratchathewi Hospital at Sri Racha has taken health services to local monks under the “Thai Monks Far from Disease” project, providing on-site medical screening to promote proactive community healthcare.
The activity was held at Wat Ratniyomtham in Sri Racha. Deputy Mayor of Sri Racha Municipality Praphat Charoensantisuk welcomed the hospital team. Deputy Hospital Director Dr. Somyot Lojindapong presided over the opening, while Assistant Hospital Director Dr. Yutthana Khanasuk outlined the project’s objectives.

The hospital’s Social Medicine Department said the program grew out of efforts to strengthen health promotion in Si Racha. Officials found that monks often have limited access to routine checkups and disease screening. The hospital therefore launched the outreach project to close that gap.
The target group is monks residing at temples in the Sri Racha Subdistrict: Wat Sri Maharacha, Wat Ratniyomtham, Wat Photithattaram, and Wat Khao Phutthakhodom. A survey in August 2026 found 98 monks in the area.

Services included a physician examination, vital-sign checks, and laboratory tests covering complete blood count (CBC), BUN/creatinine, liver function, lipid profile, fasting blood sugar, uric acid, and PSA, in line with the National Health Security Office’s health screening guidelines. Monks also received urine and stool tests, chest X-rays, electrocardiograms, dental examinations, and health education from nutritionists and physical therapists, along with oral-health guidance. Influenza vaccinations were provided as well.

Organizers hope to screen at least 70 percent of the target group and to use the project as a model for proactive health checkups in the wider community.
