CHONBURI: Banglamung Police Station is investigating a viral complaint after a woman said she went to the station to report alleged online fraud but found one officer asleep and another playing a game, then left in tears without filing a report.
The case spread on social media after the Facebook page Sao Pao – This Matter Needs Attention shared her account and a clip in which she described the visit. She said she had been cheated of money online and went to a police station in Chonburi hoping for help.
According to her account, she found an officer sleeping at the station, woke him and explained that she had been scammed. The officer, she said, appeared groggy and told her to call 1441 and go to the second floor to see other officers. When she asked which way to go upstairs, he reportedly replied, “Take whichever way you want.”
On the second floor, she said, another officer was playing a game. She told him she had been defrauded and needed help, but he continued playing and told her to wait. While waiting, she said she tried to explain that she was worried the case might pass the 72-hour window if delayed. She alleged the officer repeatedly cut her off by saying “listen, listen, listen.”
Unable to file a complaint and distressed by the manner of the officers, she later recorded a tearful video, saying that people in trouble should at least receive clear guidance and respectful treatment from the first officials they turn to. The page invited others who had similar experiences to share them, hoping public feedback would reach the Royal Thai Police.
Reporters confirmed on September 16th, 2026, that the alleged incident took place at Banglamung Police Station. Station officers said they were verifying the facts. Investigators have arranged for the woman to give a statement at the station in the coming days and will question those involved before deciding on further action.
The original clip and a summary of the woman’s account were circulated on Facebook along with the page’s post. Police have not yet publicly identified the officers or announced disciplinary findings.
