PATTAYA, Thailand: Three men riding a motorcycle together assaulted a Russian tourist and snatched his bag in a late-night robbery in Pattaya, police said, as investigators reviewed CCTV footage to track the suspects.
The attack was reported at about 1:20 a.m. on September 14th in Soi 9 Thapphraya in Pattaya City. Police Lt. Sakayaphap Chaidech, deputy investigation inspector at Pattaya City Police Station, received the report of a foreign tourist being beaten and robbed and coordinated with rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation.

At the scene, officers found Mr. Roman Monnov, 42, a Russian national, injured from the assault. Rescue workers gave him first aid before taking him to a nearby hospital.
A witness, Mr. Phanupong Jattawakang, 29, said he heard a loud noise in the alley and at first thought it was a traffic accident. When he looked, he saw the Russian tourist being attacked by Thai men. One of them kicked the victim in the face while two others sat on a motorcycle waiting.

The attacker then snatched the victim’s bag. The three men fled together on the motorcycle.
The witness said he could not recall the motorcycle’s brand or model, only that it was an automatic. The bag contained about 1,000 baht in cash, important documents and the victim’s credit cards.

Police first sent the victim for medical treatment, then took a statement and recorded an official report. Pattaya City Police Station’s investigation team is checking CCTV along the suspected escape route as they work to identify and arrest the three men.
