PATTAYA: A drunken man created a tense scene at a crash site early Monday morning after mistakenly accusing rescue volunteers of arriving in force to assault him, prompting police to step in and take him away to calm down.
At about 1:00 a.m. on September 14th, 2026, volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya rescue unit were called to a crash on the service road of Motorway 7 near the Crocodile Farm intersection in Nong Prue.

They found two motorcycles involved and two men with minor injuries. Both declined to go to a hospital. Rescuers then requested police because the motorcycles were damaged and the cause of the crash needed to be examined.
While waiting for officers, a man estimated to be 35 to 40 years old and wearing a red shirt, a friend of those involved, arrived appearing intoxicated. He began shouting and swearing at the volunteers, accusing them of coming as a group to attack him. The situation grew tense, and rescuers asked police to hurry to the scene for fear a fight would break out.

Officers from Nong Prue Police Station arrived and tried to speak with the man, but he remained agitated and appeared drunk. Concerned the incident would escalate, police told the rescue team to leave the area so they could take control. They then removed the man to calm him and sent him to a hospital.

Rescue officials said they had initially been told two motorcycles had collided. While they were en route, a volunteer already near the scene radioed that he feared being attacked, so additional volunteers were sent.
When the team arrived, the intoxicated man immediately shouted accusations that rescuers had come as a mob to harm him, even though they had not approached him.

His wife tried to restrain him and slapped him across the mouth to stop the outburst. That only deepened his confusion: he then believed the rescuers themselves had struck him. Police were called in to prevent the situation from worsening. It is unclear if any further legal action will take place regarding the incident.
