Chinese Interpol Fugitive Wanted for Murder Captured in the Pattaya Area After 30 Years on the Run

Pattaya –

Thai police have arrested a Chinese national in the Pattaya area wanted on an INTERPOL Red Notice for murder, ending more than three decades of evasion. The suspect also reportedly illegally purchased Thai citizenship decades ago.

Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Samran Nualma directed the operation, with Pol. Lt. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawasdi and a joint task force apprehending Mr. Zhu, also known as “Suchart”, at his residence in Nong Prue, Banglamung. Zhu was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice and a warrant issued by Pattaya Provincial Court (No. 509/2569). He is accused of intentional assault in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, China, dating back to January 19th, 1990.

Investigators revealed that Zhu allegedly obtained Thai citizenship illegally. During questioning, he admitted to paying approximately 50,000 baht to secure a Thai national ID card in Tak Province decades ago. Authorities are now probing whether officials or intermediaries facilitated the fraudulent process and whether similar schemes were extended to other foreign nationals.

After assuming a Thai identity, Zhu lived openly in the country, working as a tour guide and later expanding into tourism-related businesses. He eventually settled in Pattaya, married a Chinese woman, and raised twin children.

Authorities discovered that Zhu controlled multiple companies and amassed significant assets, including 17 land plots in Banglamung worth over 100 million baht, along with several vehicles. Investigators are now tracing the origins of these holdings to determine their legality.

The arrest followed close coordination between Thai police, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Chinese authorities, who requested extradition under the Interpol notice. Zhu has been handed over to Banglamung Police Station for further legal proceedings, with extradition expected to follow.
