SRIRACHA: The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Division of Sriracha Municipality conducted a gas fire emergency drill to sharpen officers’ skills, improve coordination, and ensure a systematic team response when a real incident occurs.
The exercise was led by Deputy Mayor Prapas Charoensantisuk and division head Apichat Maneechot. Officers from the municipality’s disaster prevention unit, together with three fire trucks, which took part in the simulated operation as if an actual emergency had broken out.

Somthop Kerdthong created the scenario at a public park, simulating a gas leak that ignited into intense flames. Officers were ordered to move in immediately under a planned, safety-first approach. The response was organized into three teams. Chaiporn Mingkwan, secretary of the Sriracha Municipal Council and a department head, observed the drill.
Prapas said the exercise was valuable because it prepared every officer and improved their ability to use fire nozzles, including adjusting water pressure before attacking a fire in a real event.

The drill also gave officers new practical knowledge, including nozzle handling, water-pressure control, and the use of water curtains so the team could suppress a fire more safely. Participants reviewed their individual roles and responsibilities so they could work as a coordinated unit, following established procedures efficiently.
Officials said the training is intended to protect both responders and people affected by an incident, while reducing loss of life and property.

Municipal leaders indicated that future drills may be made more intensive so officers can practice working together even more systematically when fighting fires.
